In February of 2010 Amós Lora traveled to Rome to meet Paco de Lucía and had the privilege of being able to offer him a small private concert where the Maestro was surprised by the boy’s talent. Two years later, Paco de Lucía wrote on Amós Lora’s debut album «Amós, if you carry on playing like that, you are going to send us all to work as bricklayers». This phrase takes on a special significance today, as it was first said by Paco’s teacher, Niño Ricardo, to Paco de Lucía when he was 10 years old. Half a century later, Paco de Lucía passed those same words on to Amós Lora, thereby entrusting a whole legacy to Amós through this gesture.

Amós Lora. September 21, 1999. Madrid

He began playing the guitar at the age of three, under the guidance of his father, Manuel Lora. From the age of six, he also began studying with various teachers and leading flamenco guitarists. Between Madrid, Jerez and the ‘Pescadería’ neighbourhood in Almería, Amós gradually immersed himself in the art of flamenco, particularly that of the Gypsies. At the age of eight, he met Tomatito, who took the boy under his wing from the very start and taught him his falsetas. Since 2010, Amós has also been taught by ‘Diego del Morao’, Manuel Parrilla and David Cerreduela, amongst others. Amós is passionate about jazz, a genre he began to study as a self-taught musician: John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, George Benson and John McLaughlin all left their mark on Amós’s early guitar playing. From 2013 to 2018, alongside his flamenco training in tablaos, Amós studied with maestro Félix Santos in Madrid, receiving extensive training in harmony, improvisation and the language of modern music in general.

At just 12 years old, Amós recorded his first CD, “Cerro Negro”, on which he already featured his own compositions. The pianist Diego Amador appeared as a special guest on the album. In 2014, the Worldmusic record label released the compilation CD “The Rough Guide to Flamenco Guitar”. On the album, Amós Lora appears alongside Tomatito, Carles Benavent and Paco de Lucía, amongst others. At the age of 16, Amós recorded his second album, “Así lo veo”. It features original tracks in which he fuses jazz and flamenco into a unique and entirely personal style. In 2019, Amós released his third CD, “DADGAD”. Based on his own compositions, for this new album Amós shut himself away alone in the studio to create an intimate record on which he plays all the instruments himself. That same year, Bill Whelan, pianist and producer for U2, re-recorded the original music for “Riverdance” to mark its 25th anniversary. Amós was chosen as one of the world’s most prominent young musicians to take part in this new recording. In 2024, he released his fourth album, “Tiempo de Leyendas”.

Artistic Career:

At the age of four, Amós was already making his first public appearances, and at seven he performed at ‘Casa Patas’, an iconic flamenco venue in Madrid. Since then, Amós has appeared on news programmes and television shows across all national channels, as well as in various international media outlets.
